Oly’s South East Asia OE

Oly & his friend Conrad have had their trip to SE Asia planned for a while and the time for departure finally arrived. Their trip is a back-packing & using local transport type of trip. A ‘take it as it comes’ kind of trip. A general itinerary was worked out based on some of their friends’ experiences [...]

some of my favourite websites

  • Remembering Lost Christchurch - Between September 2010 and February 2011, Christchurch was struck by three major earthquakes leaving the city’s heart ripped apart and lying in rubble. Through this unimaginable force of nature, we were suddenly forced to realise that we have lost the loved, familiar and treasured buildings and streetscapes forever. This website allows us all those with a connection to Christchurch to reluctantly bid farewell to the Christchurch that once was, and provides an opportunity to grieve for and treasure the lost Victorian and Edwardian elegance, charm and irreplaceable ambiance of the city and suburbs. #
  • Retrospace - Feeling nostalgic? Here's a blogging website that looks back on the glory days of the '60s and '70s. Retro adverts, mini skirts, vintage mags, electronics, disco, catologs. It's all here. Great fun looking back. #
  • Awkward Family Photos - This is a very cool website with some really awkward family photos. #
  • Adventures on the French Canals - I have always fancied hiring a barge and crusing along the canels in Southern France. This Blog is about a couple (Kevin and Yvonne Gilbert from Perth, Western Australia) who have made this dream into a reality. They bought a canal boat in France and their blog details their adventures .... cruising in France 2005, 2006 and 2007 and then in 2008, 2009 and 2010 more adventures as they cruised in the Netherlands and through the lakes, rivers and canals in North Germany to Berlin. ..... In 2011 they sold their boat and bought a motorhome to continue their adventures in Europe. #
  • Kidd of Speed - Chernobyl Revisited - This is a very sobering weblog that provides an insight into the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster. Written by Elena, she documents her motorcycle trips north to the so called Chernobyl "dead zone", 130kms from her home in Kiev. Lots of photos and information about the effects of radiation straight after the disaster and its ongoing effect on people and the environment. #
