some of my favourite websites

  • Awkward Family Photos - This is a very cool website with some really awkward family photos. #
  • Adventures on the French Canals - I have always fancied hiring a barge and crusing along the canels in Southern France. This Blog is about a couple (Kevin and Yvonne Gilbert from Perth, Western Australia) who have made this dream into a reality. Here's their Blog introduction: We are grandparents who decided not to buy a new car and caravan and bought a canal boat in France instead. We travel to France each May for 3 to 4 months and have a wonderful time. #
  • Ludlow Survivors - A site for the discussion of survival practices. A came across Dave's survival forum website a few years ago now. It was first started when the threat of bird flu was in the forefront of peoples minds. It has grown into a huge repository of survival information of all kinds. Basically a site that assists people to prepare themselves and their homes for any type of event that requires them to look after themselves for a period of time. UK based website, but has a world wide audience including a few people from downunder. #
  • Kidd of Speed - Chernobyl Revisited - This is a very sobering weblog that provides an insight into the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster. Written by Elena, she documents her motorcycle trips north to the so called Chernobyl "dead zone", 130kms from her home in Kiev. Lots of photos and information about the effects of radiation straight after the disaster and its ongoing effect on people and the environment. #
  • Spiegel Online - Came across this German news site a few months ago. A really informative site that provides a different slant to the usual American or English viewpoint of world events. Has some interesting articles on German history (WWII, the Holocaust, Hitler) and the way that the present German people handle that part of their history. #
